My Deepest Sorrow

victor2

From Tara (Victor’s wife):

It is with my deepest sorrow that I inform you of the passing of my beloved husband Victor. He died on the afternoon of 5 November 2016. At the time, he was in the middle of writing Book 6, the final instalment in his series Royal Institute of Magic.

Three days before he passed away, he wrote the following letter to you – his fans. If you are interested in Victor’s writing and his wishes for the future, please read on.

…

A letter from Victor Kloss:

Dear Readers and Fans,

It has been my privilege to entertain you these past two years. I wanted to share some news that nobody (least of all me) is happy about. I won’t harp on, but there are a few things I’d like say, and I’m sorry if they cause you pain.

Physical condition
Throughout my life I have had physical issues, which have slowly impacted me over the years. I have a serious liver disease, as well as lung disease, and an entirely inadequate immune system. Although I’ve managed to live a wonderful life (loving family, wife and daughter) I have finally hit a hurdle that I just can’t jump.

Cancer
I have an aggressive form of Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system). I’ve been fighting it for a while, but it has reached a stage where I only have days left. Now, I’m hoping your first thought isn’t about Book 6! But I will get to that and I have a plan.

Help
I’m only thirty-five years old, yet I make a good income from writing, which I love. However, I have a wife and 3-year-old daughter (who doesn’t know yet), and one of my biggest worries is that my wife will not be able to support herself as a single mother.

What you can do
In desperation, I’ve turned to Patreon knowing other artists have been funded in such a manner. So many of you have expressed your delight in the Royal Institute of Magic that I thought you would be willing to return the favour by pledging a small amount. Your support will ensure the completion of Book 6, and it will further other projects, such as my audio books currently in production. It will also ensure new readers continue to discover this series.

Most importantly: Book 6!
With your help and support, we will finish Book 6, although there may be a brief delay. First of all, I have some writing contacts (including a few big ones), and I am working with them to find a suitable fantasy author who can take this project to completion. Secondly, I have started Book 6, and I also have a chapter outline of the whole story. My brother (who reads all my projects and knows the story better than anyone) will take over the responsibility of deciding on a suitable author.

I’m really excited to bring the conclusion of this story to my readers and fans. You’ve been so loyal.

In closing
Whatever you choose to decide, it’s been an absolute pleasure knowing you all.

Regards,

Victor Kloss
Author of Royal Institute of Magic

My heart is broken for you and your daughter. I am 33 and a mother to a two year old boy. There are too many thoughts as to what both you and your husband have endured and what your life might be like now. As one mother and wife to another, I send you my genuine love. May God send His Comforter to you.

Please accept my deepest sympathy at the loss of your husband and father. I stumbled upon his books a few months ago and have so enjoyed reading them. He truly had a gift for writing. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I came here to see when book 6 would come out, after a few months of waiting, and just a few words in, my heart stopped.
I can’t begin to express my condolences to you and your family. This must be traumatic to have to go through, especially with a daughter of such a young age. You will be in my prayers, and I will continue to support this book with every fiber of my being. He was a remarkable man, may he rest peacefully.

Words can’t adequately express my shock at learning of Victor’s passing. The past few days have been spent reading about the adventures of Ben and his friends, and I looked forward to Victor’s vision of how the story would end.
This is incredibly sad, and my prayers for him, and you and your daughter.

Even though the books are meant for the young readers I enjoyed reading them too along with my son. These books helped me go through some real crisis period in my life. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I can’t imagine how hard this must be on you especially with a small child. I just wanted say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and that it came to me at a time in my life where my husband lost his job due to illness. It’s the 3rd year in a row for us struggling at the holidays to illness. It has been frustrating to say the least. It been a great pleasure to be able to step out of the reality of my personal situation and into the amazing stories Victor provided. It helped me maintain my sanity. Lol. I pray God grants you all peace and comfort as well as blessing you with beautiful memories until meet again.
