My Deepest Sorrow

victor2

From Tara (Victor’s wife):

It is with my deepest sorrow that I inform you of the passing of my beloved husband Victor. He died on the afternoon of 5 November 2016. At the time, he was in the middle of writing Book 6, the final instalment in his series Royal Institute of Magic.

Three days before he passed away, he wrote the following letter to you – his fans. If you are interested in Victor’s writing and his wishes for the future, please read on.

…

A letter from Victor Kloss:

Dear Readers and Fans,

It has been my privilege to entertain you these past two years. I wanted to share some news that nobody (least of all me) is happy about. I won’t harp on, but there are a few things I’d like say, and I’m sorry if they cause you pain.

Physical condition
Throughout my life I have had physical issues, which have slowly impacted me over the years. I have a serious liver disease, as well as lung disease, and an entirely inadequate immune system. Although I’ve managed to live a wonderful life (loving family, wife and daughter) I have finally hit a hurdle that I just can’t jump.

Cancer
I have an aggressive form of Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system). I’ve been fighting it for a while, but it has reached a stage where I only have days left. Now, I’m hoping your first thought isn’t about Book 6! But I will get to that and I have a plan.

Help
I’m only thirty-five years old, yet I make a good income from writing, which I love. However, I have a wife and 3-year-old daughter (who doesn’t know yet), and one of my biggest worries is that my wife will not be able to support herself as a single mother.

What you can do
In desperation, I’ve turned to Patreon knowing other artists have been funded in such a manner. So many of you have expressed your delight in the Royal Institute of Magic that I thought you would be willing to return the favour by pledging a small amount. Your support will ensure the completion of Book 6, and it will further other projects, such as my audio books currently in production. It will also ensure new readers continue to discover this series.

Most importantly: Book 6!
With your help and support, we will finish Book 6, although there may be a brief delay. First of all, I have some writing contacts (including a few big ones), and I am working with them to find a suitable fantasy author who can take this project to completion. Secondly, I have started Book 6, and I also have a chapter outline of the whole story. My brother (who reads all my projects and knows the story better than anyone) will take over the responsibility of deciding on a suitable author.

I’m really excited to bring the conclusion of this story to my readers and fans. You’ve been so loyal.

In closing
Whatever you choose to decide, it’s been an absolute pleasure knowing you all.

Regards,

Victor Kloss
Author of Royal Institute of Magic

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. May you, Tara, and your daughter be enveloped with love and warmth, and may the presence of Victor lives strong in your heart. It is still so new and raw for you… may time be a friend, peace be a teacher, and may a gentle wind carry these prayers all around you for as long as you need.

I can’t add anything that hasn’t already been said. Victor was a talented writer with a wonderful imagination and this series has been tremendously enjoyable. My thoughts are with you and your daughter at this difficult time.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the heartache and loss you have. Know that I have thoroughly enjoyed these books. He had such a great imagination and so much talent. I am getting my teenage daughter, who also writes and loves it, into reading these. My prayers go out to you and your daughter. Remain strong and know that Victor is always with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was checking about the next book and found this post. My son and daughter have enjoyed listening to the Royal Institute of Magic books as bedtime stories. They are 13 and 19 but enjoy great books. Your husband brought special memories for our family with his books. May God be with you and your daughter.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Saying so sorry for the loss of your husband and the daddy to your young child does not feel enough. Your husband was an amazing writer and I too, echo another that I hope the books will be made into movies. I hope and pray this happens for you…but more importantly I pray for you to have a strong support system and loving family and friends around you at this difficult time.t

Along with all who have posted here, you have my deepest sympathy. When a young talented individual passes away it is always tragic, be they athlete or actor, but when a young talented author passes away, it is all that much worse, “loss is loss and there is no way to measure it’s impact, it just sucks”.
When I saw this first book in this series on audible 24 hours ago, I had no idea who the author was, only that he wrote a book about magic and nowadays I consider all good fiction books to be there own sort of magic, with the way the world has been going seeing people start to read again is magic.
I have only known of Victor and his work for a very short time, but I freely admit to my jealousy, because even though I am older, more experienced and arguably more accomplished, Victor has made the world a better place and for more people than I ever will, sharing one’s dreams, ambition and the incredible imagination that go in to the writing of books like these will always be a legacy that most are not even equipped to comprehend.
I am truly grateful and so very saddened that I decided to take a shot at another young adult fantasy story, in the misguided hopes to take on something a bit lighter than my normal reading material.
I look forward to the release of the entire series on audio and will buy them as soon as they are available.
    Thank You for you’re story…

What devastating news. Such a tragic loss of a writer just beginning to find success. I think his series should be filmed and hope that you can find an author capable of doing justice to his wishes for Book 6. My deepest sympathy to his family.
