From Tara (Victor’s wife):
It is with my deepest sorrow that I inform you of the passing of my beloved husband Victor. He died on the afternoon of 5 November 2016. At the time, he was in the middle of writing Book 6, the final instalment in his series Royal Institute of Magic.
Three days before he passed away, he wrote the following letter to you – his fans. If you are interested in Victor’s writing and his wishes for the future, please read on.

A letter from Victor Kloss:
Dear Readers and Fans,
It has been my privilege to entertain you these past two years. I wanted to share some news that nobody (least of all me) is happy about. I won’t harp on, but there are a few things I’d like say, and I’m sorry if they cause you pain.
Physical condition
Throughout my life I have had physical issues, which have slowly impacted me over the years. I have a serious liver disease, as well as lung disease, and an entirely inadequate immune system. Although I’ve managed to live a wonderful life (loving family, wife and daughter) I have finally hit a hurdle that I just can’t jump.
Cancer
I have an aggressive form of Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system). I’ve been fighting it for a while, but it has reached a stage where I only have days left. Now, I’m hoping your first thought isn’t about Book 6! But I will get to that and I have a plan.
Help
I’m only thirty-five years old, yet I make a good income from writing, which I love. However, I have a wife and 3-year-old daughter (who doesn’t know yet), and one of my biggest worries is that my wife will not be able to support herself as a single mother.
What you can do
In desperation, I’ve turned to Patreon knowing other artists have been funded in such a manner. So many of you have expressed your delight in the Royal Institute of Magic that I thought you would be willing to return the favour by pledging a small amount. Your support will ensure the completion of Book 6, and it will further other projects, such as my audio books currently in production. It will also ensure new readers continue to discover this series.
Most importantly: Book 6!
With your help and support, we will finish Book 6, although there may be a brief delay. First of all, I have some writing contacts (including a few big ones), and I am working with them to find a suitable fantasy author who can take this project to completion. Secondly, I have started Book 6, and I also have a chapter outline of the whole story. My brother (who reads all my projects and knows the story better than anyone) will take over the responsibility of deciding on a suitable author.
I’m really excited to bring the conclusion of this story to my readers and fans. You’ve been so loyal.
In closing
Whatever you choose to decide, it’s been an absolute pleasure knowing you all.
Regards,
Victor Kloss
Author of Royal Institute of Magic

I am so sorry for your loss. I only just discovered this series and was so lost in the world of Magic the when i finished book 5 and went to look for book 6 I came across this. There is a permanent place in this world for Victor through his stories and his world of Magic. I just gave the first 5 to my son and he is deeply lost in them. what great joy your husband created in the ages of his books. If 6 comes out i will buy it immediately
I realize that I cannot say any more than has already been said, but I am deeply sorry for your loss. I loved to read his writing, and I was happily anticipating the sixth book. But when it didn’t come out in early 2017 as your husband said, I got suspicious. I first learned of your loss today, when I looked up his sixth book, and I cannot even begin to imagine the loss your family is going through. And while it gave me great pleasure to learn about Elizabeths Legacy, it will give me even more to learn about Victor’s.
I was obssesed with this series and was thinking while close to the end of the 5th book: “There’s probably not enough space left in the book for the guardians to even get to Suktar”. When the book ended, I tried to find the 6ths’s lanch date. Then I found out why it hadn’t come yet, and didn’t seem that it would. I was utterly dismayed. I was even previously considering attempting programming part of a videogame of the series, with everything in order (would be hard to get to work, with agreements and all that.) I am so sorry about this loss and hope that you do well with your family and the 6th book.
Words can’t express the deep loss that we feel with the passing of your husband and da. I wish I had gotten to know his work sooner! May you find that your loved one’s work is a legacy that will live on in the words he wrote! Thanks, Victor, for sharing of your talent of writing! A great loss of a father and husband and a good man and an author!
I have just read the news of your husband’s passing. My deepest sympathy to you and your daughter. Your husband was a fantastic and creative author and will be sorely missed. I hope you will take solace in knowing his writing has touched so many. Prayers to you and your family to ease your sorrows and help fill the emptiness that has been left with Victor’s passing.
I just came across Mr. Kloss’s writings recently and read books 1-5 of the Royal Institute of Magic. I am an avid reader and in all my 45 years I have never read anything that held my attention like this series has. I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to his family, you have not only lost a husband, father and brother but a true word smith the likes of which I have never encountered. RIP Sir, you will not be forgotten.
So sorry for your loss. He will be missed, we enjoyed his work very much.
I am so sorry for your loss. Those words never seem quite adequate. I recently lost an uncle and my grandfathers health is in very bad shape. Your husbands books have given me something else to do. I really hope that you are able to make it through. I’ll be praying for you.
My heart hurts for your loss, and ours, as readers of Victor’s wonderful work. May you
have God’s comfort and blessings to sustain you and strengthen your family, and may you and your daughter have wonderful memories of your precious time with your talented husband.
Tara, I am so sorry for your loss. Victor was an inspiring author. I truly enjoyed his books. My prayers are with you and your daughter.
Like so many others I came looking for news on book six,and was deeply saddened by the news of the loss of your husband to cancer at such a young age.No words can ever help or make up for the loss of a loved one,but I hope that you gain some strength from the support everyone who has written here is projecting to you.
Omg my condolences to your loss! I want you to know that the books have been a wonderful .. Portal.. Where I can escape from the stress of exams , friends and everything else.
